What’s the difference between a dream and a goal? After three years of co-
publishing what I know is one of the best magazines in the world, we’ve hit a
milestone; an epiphany so to say. You don’t strive for a goal. You complete
goals to strive for your dream. Goals are inevitable. Whether you like it or
not, you have goals. Whether it’s to get a new car, a new house, or just to
pay the rent this month, it’s a goal. I think we as people get entirely too
focused on our goals that we forget about our dreams.

We go through life doing materialistic things so that we can say we kept up
with the Jones’. And in the meantime, our dreams become closer to a
fantasy. We have to take hold of our dreams and strive for them. If we
don’t, then who will?

When we sat in the living room of our apartment and spoke the words of
Suavv Magazine, we put our dreams on the table; our dreams as
individuals and fused them into one dream. We realized that everything
that we wanted as individuals could be done under this single dream. Not
realizing how God had already begun to prepare us for our journey with the
jobs we had, the obstacles in school, the changing of majors in college,
and the upbringing that we experienced.

I realized this week after my magazine shelving units fell over for the THIRD
time that I started gaining my interest in magazines in 2001. (God has a
way of making you pay attention to something).
The more I cleaned up the shelves, I started remembering when and why I
bought each magazine. At that point I remembered why we wanted Suavv.
Suavv is more than a magazine. It’s a lifestyle, a mentality, and a
movement. It’s our way of sending out a buzz to readers to thirst for the
finer things in life. It’s our method of showing people not to settle for less. It’
s our method of embracing our communities and guiding them to their own
dreams.

We have had story after story of how a person has emerged from the
sands of fame and success from the humble beginnings of homelessness,
being broke, working a crappy job and struggling to survive. It’s all about
following the dream. God will never give you your dream easily. You’re
going to have to work for the dream. It’s going to be stressful, there will be
pains, and there will be close calls. You’re going to be pushed so far that
when you finally do make it, you’ll know that you could have never done it
on your own.

We are in the business of encouraging dreams and establishing goals.
Suavv Magazine is here to show you the path of a dream. We show you
how to enjoy that path instead of dreading it. We show you how to become
the person that you want to be. And we show you that you’re not alone. We
show you that if we can do it and they can do it, then so can you. That is
what sets us apart from other magazines. That’s what makes Suavv
Magazine unique.

Mike and I have embodied the Suavv Man. We refuse to accept less than
great from ourselves. We criticize ourselves more than anyone else, (well,
almost anyone). But we know what needs to be done for our dreams to
become a reality. So we push ourselves harder from month to month.
Overall, we do what needs to be done to get us closer to our dream. And
believe it or not, the magazine alone is not the dream. It’s a part of the
dream.

Suavv Magazine is our voice. It’s our way of telling the world what is in our
hearts and on our minds. It’s a way of expressing our concerns and
emotions. Suavv is our way to uplift, empower, encourage, and educate.
Suavv is for the trendsetters, and the movers and shakers of our society.
Suavv is our way to say “this can be you.” Suavv Magazine is us and we
are Suavv Magazine.

Are you Suavv?
