If you take a look at the headlines of stories involving the role models of the
hip-hop generation, you’re likely to find a nearly insurmountable wall of
negativity, and overt one-sided biased reporting that only highlights
sensationalized stories that cast our leaders into the darkest of shadows.
Despite all this, hip-hop truly has a heart – a pretty big one too. With six
platinum albums under his belt, Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges sits at the
head of one of the largest record labels in the world and commands a
conglomerate that resembles his own personal military.

Match that with his numerous feature roles in some of the biggest summer
blockbusters and you might say that Luda has a lot to brag about – and
you’d be right. But what’s more remarkable is the fact that he doesn’t brag
about it, not this weekend – not during Luda Day Weekend. Contrary to its
name, the celebratory weekend is not just about the southern rapper with
the meanest punchlines in the biz; rather Ludacris uses his wealth to give
back to the community that has contributed to his superstar status – and he
gives back in MAJOR ways.

Labor Day Weekend in Atlanta is also known as Luda Day Weekend, a time
of celebration for Ludacris and the staff of Disturbing Tha Peace Records.
On Friday afternoon, the label hosted a DJ Appreciation Block party at the
DTP Studios in Atlanta. Banging through the speakers of DJ A Plus was the
music of ATL’s finest hip-hop artists including Lil Scrappy, Mullage, Young
Dro, Playaz Circle, and Ludacris himself, among others.
